JAVA based solution that enables automated and standardized monitoring of CreditRisk System (CRS) feeds into STAR system.

Citibank required deploying a technology solution to facilitate the monitoring of CreditRisk Systems (CRS) feeds on the "Factory Floor" for the Basel II Production Support team.

Before the solution deployment, the multitude of file processing, monitoring and reporting requirements across the entire CMB factory floor were predominantly manual and labor intensive. There were no standard automated tools monitoring the factory floor systems feeds from BASEL based solutions into STAR. Each application system owner managed their own monitoring with different metrics and reporting requirements to facilitate the quality and timelines of each feed, and this involved a lot of manual labor at times. There were no systems, standardized processes, follow-up and quality standards to assure the visibility, reliability and accountability of these feeds.

The challenge was to develop from the start and in short time, a single unified solution to promote efficiency for monitoring of data quality and integrity on the factory floor.

At Business Vision we developed a JAVA based solution to provide standardized and automatic monitoring of all the CRS feeds into STAR.

By doing this, Citibank could eliminate all manual and labor intensive task and ensure feeds' visibility, reliability and accountability.

Solution specifications

Business goals:

• Consolidate all current efforts to automate the monitoring of all the CRS feeds and the intermediate (Between CRS and STAR) Basel feeds to STAR. Legacy & Basel. One system, one standard.
• Create a single monitoring solution to eliminate the labour intensive, manual and in some cases possibly non-existent procedures related to the feeds including:
  • Monitor
  • Report Generation
  • Metrics and Statistics

Technological challenge:

• Allow room for future Basel (or otherwise) required interfaces.
• Compliance with the corporate data management standards created to promote robust operating efficiency for the monitoring of data quality /integrity on the factory floor.
• Enforce, where applicable, the creation of (feed) file checking and validation therefore creating file information for reporting purposes.
• To create a uniform, basic set of reports and metrics that will serve as a single and unified feed quality control.
• To reduce errors and irregularities, increase the accountability and visibility by addressing repetitive errors and taking corrective actions.
• To expedite the handling of errors and irregularities through a notification system such as email and/or text messaging.
